Frequently Asked Kitchen Tap Questions

Every tap arrives with flexible tails, fixing kit and an aerator in the box. Order before 2 pm Monday–Friday for free next-working-day delivery to 99 % of UK postcodes (remote areas 48-72 hrs). You’ll receive a tracking link as soon as your tap leaves our warehouse.

Virtually all UK kitchen mixer taps use a single 35 mm tap hole. If your sink or worktop has a 40 mm pre-drilled hole, the included base plate will cover the gap; anything smaller than 32 mm will need enlarging with a hole-saw.

Choose a kitchen tap to hose adapter that matches your spout: most modern mixers need a 22 mm or 24 mm female thread adaptor. Unscrew the aerator, hand-tighten the adaptor and click your standard garden hose connector onto it. When you’ve finished filling buckets or watering, just swap the aerator back in place.

Older compression taps use rubber washers rather than cartridges. Follow the same steps above to remove the handle, unscrew the valve stem, prise off the old washer, press on a new BS541 equivalent (usually ½"), re-fit the stem and tighten. Turn the supply back on and the tap should seal.

A constant drip normally means the ceramic cartridges have worn. Shut off the water, pop off the handle cap, remove the grub screw and handle, then unscrew the cartridge with an adjustable spanner. Fit a like-for-like replacement, re-assemble and test. If water is leaking at the base, replace the O-ring beneath the spout instead.

Turn off the hot- and cold-water isolation valves under the sink, open the old tap to release pressure, then disconnect the flexible tails and retaining nut. Clean the sink or worktop surface, drop the new mixer through the existing 35 mm tap hole, hand-tighten the fixing kit, reconnect the tails, and open the valves. Check for leaks and you’re done - usually a 30-minute DIY job with basic tools.
