Frequently Asked Composite Sink Questions
What is a composite sink?
A composite sink is moulded from roughly 80 % natural granite or quartz and 20 % acrylic resin, then baked under pressure. The result is a solid, non-porous bowl that looks like stone but is lighter, virtually scratch-proof and won’t fade under UV light.
How to clean a composite sink every day?
After washing up, rinse away food, add a drop of washing-up liquid to a soft sponge and wipe the bowl. Finish with a quick blast of warm water and buff dry with a microfibre cloth - this prevents water spots and keeps the silky-matt finish looking new.
How to remove tea stains from a composite sink (or clean a white/black composite sink)?
Sprinkle bicarbonate of soda over the stain, add a splash of white vinegar and let it fizz for 5 minutes. Work the area with a non-abrasive sponge, rinse and dry. For stubborn marks, soak a paper towel in diluted household bleach (1:20), lay it on the stain for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Can you bleach a composite sink?
Yes - occasionally. A weak bleach solution (no stronger than 1:20) is safe for stubborn stains, provided you rinse well and don’t leave it longer than 30 minutes. Avoid neat bleach or abrasive scouring powders, which can dull the surface.
How to care for composite sinks long-term?
Deep-clean once a week with a pH-neutral cream cleaner, always dry after use to stop limescale, and use the supplied stainless rack or a rubber mat when handling heavy cast-iron pans. These steps preserve the colour and protect the surface from impact chips.
Are composite kitchen sinks good - how durable are they?
Definitely. They shrug off temperatures up to 280 °C, resist chips better than ceramic and won’t rust like steel. With basic care a composite bowl will stay looking showroom-fresh for 20 years or more. Every Nesstar model carries a manufacturer warranty and, if you order before 2 pm Monday–Friday, it arrives next working day to 99 % of UK postcodes (remote areas 48–72 hrs) complete with basket waste, overflow and fixing clips.
