If you make multiple hot drinks or prep food throughout the day, yes. They cut waiting time to zero, eliminate kettle clutter and use around 50 % less energy than repeatedly boiling a kettle. Factor in lower running costs, space saved and the convenience of near-boiling water on demand and most households recoup the initial outlay in 2–3 years.

The onboard carbon filter removes chlorine, limescale and micro-sediment before the water is heated to 100 °C—killing bacteria just like a rolling kettle boil. The result is fresh, odour-free, ready-to-drink water that’s safe for tea, coffee, baby bottles and cooking.

A qualified plumber can retrofit most systems in under 90 minutes: drill or reuse the standard 35 mm tap hole, mount the tank, connect the flexible hoses, fit the filter and plug into a 13 A socket. Granite or quartz worktops may require a diamond core bit and a little extra time.

Inside the cupboard sits a compact, well-insulated boiler tank connected to the mains cold feed. Water is filtered, brought to 100 °C, then held at a constant 98 °C so it can be dispensed instantly through the dedicated boiling-water tap. A child-safe spring lock on the handle prevents accidental activation, and the spout is double-walled to stay cool to the touch.

A typical 2- or 3-litre tank uses 10 – 15 W in standby—about 3 p a day. That’s cheaper than boiling a 2 kW kettle several times daily, and the thick insulation means very little heat is lost between draws. For extra economy choose a model with sleep mode or programmable timers.
